Flagler Local Talent
Becky Pourchot was a writer and story teller long before she even knew what one was. It was in her DNA. As a child, she built a reputation for telling the scariest stories at sleepovers, and was the little girl who proudly made her family laugh at the dinner table. Her inquisitive nature and vivid imagination was the foundation for not only a captivating, but blossoming career as an author and speaker.
In her debut book, I Look Better In Binary, Becky reflected on her childhood experiences as a Jewish kid growing up in the Midwest to create a collection of short stories that are, at once, hilarious and touching.
Now, Becky’s work ventures into the paranormal, featuring psychological stories about the unknown and misunderstood. Her Hungry Ghost series features the quirky life of Gala Rhyce, a reluctant ghost whisper and her newest release Open Souls tells the action packed tale of a two people living in St. Augustine whose discovery of an ancient box leads to their psychological decay.
Although Becky is happiest behind a computer writing, she also loves being in the lime light. In May and June she will be doing a “Paranormal Tour” in Flagler and St. John Counties, retelling the strange stories she’s collected through her web show That’s SO Bizarre where she interviews ordinary people who have experienced the extraordinary.
Becky is also a contributor to localflagler.com, localdaytona.com and localstaugustine.com.
These days, Becky joyfully walks the line between chaos and order in her hometown of Flagler Beach, with her husband, three kids, three chickens, and a guinea pig named Dog. Becky finds herself most at peace when she’s strolling on the nearby beach or riding on the back of her husband’s motorcycle.
Becky never thought she’d have six books under her belt, but she says she’s not finished yet. “Even as Open Souls just goes into publication, I’ve got another book brewing in my mind. I can’t wait to get it started.”
